Is communism biblical?

Mr. Dawn Treader wants someone to present a defense for the idea at his blog:

“I would like someone to make a Biblical, Christian argument that it is the proper God given role of the government to redistribute the wealth of its citizens.  You don’t have to quote chapter and verse from the Bible.  But, please use Biblical principles in your argument.”
