This is a very revealing interview; it shows more about Oprah’s ignorance about sexuality as it does about Haggard. Sexuality, as the dear lady seemed to suggest, is NOT about what you feel but about the choices you make and choose to identify with. The identity’s grounded in what you do. A person isn’t a thief or a murderer or a liar because he WANTS to do it; he becomes one when he commits the act. This is the problem with the way the world sees sex, and no wonder so many think that if they’re actively gay they have no choice but to keep living like that and not turn to Christ, be healed, and find salvation. It’s a big lie of Satan and it’s troubling to see Oprah go along with it given how she calls herself a Christian. If I thought like her God never would have saved me from the same sin as Haggard’s.

Thanks, Haydn, for your comment here. This sin causes a lot of confusion, because it seems there are elements of both determination and choice. Thanks for visiting the site — please come back.
