WWJT?

Justin Wise suggests that Christians aren’t very gratuitous when it comes to eating out, speaking from first-hand experience as a waiter:
“‘It’s the Christians,’ was the reply from my co-workers. ‘The Christians always come in on Sunday mornings for brunch after their church service and they don’t tip. At all. Christians are the worst tippers ever.’”

Eye-opening: “What if Starbucks marketed like a church?”
November 6, 2008
(HT: Jonathan Ignacio)
Thoughts:
- This makes several good points – but …
- Would it not be equally troubling if the church marketed just like Starbucks? What would that look like?
- It’s Americano, not ‘Americana‘ (FYI, if you want more bang for your buck, the Americano is the way to go: it’s cheaper than the latté but has an extra shot of espresso [100mg caffeine])

Donut make my brown eyes blue
October 29, 2008
Mark D. Roberts gets wistful over his recent rediscovery of the Big Donut franchise:

God and beer
October 16, 2008
A story about both — no kidding (HT: Crunchy Con).
“When Brock Wagner was looking to name his new brewery in Houston 14 years ago, his search took him to the library of a local Catholic seminary. There, he found the story of St. Arnold of Metz, the French saint of brewers and one of many patron saints of the brewing arts. … As the tale goes, Arnold (580-640) urged his people, ‘Don’t drink the water, drink beer’ because he believed water boiled in beer was safer than tainted water sources.”
Mexican food!
October 6, 2008
An evangelical perspective on the topic at Evangelical Perspective:
“Let’s face the reality of the situation: Tex-Mex is not really Mexican. It has some of the content mixed with some some convenience. It’s good, but it’s not what it should be. Don’t expect that you’ll find the best Mexican food in your middle-class areas. You will likely have to go into the Mexican neighborhood itself to find them.”
Yours truly lives in southeast Texas, and I heartily concur.
