Muslims attack Christians in Jos, Nigeria
December 2, 2008
Several hundred are dead following an election which some Muslims believe was rigged by Christians. The Christianity Today liveblog reports, with this excerpt from a BBC eyewitness account:
“I could see the burning houses, all the smoke and hear the gunshots. Women were running away carrying their children, clothes, foodstuffs and water. Men were using petrol to douse the grass-roofed houses and then lighting with a match. I could hear shouts of “Allahu Akbar”.
Audio: Michael Haykin on the history of Islam
November 15, 2008
Find a link at Haykin’s blog. Ian Clary shares this recommendation on Haykin’s seminar:
“A year or so ago I attended Sola Scriptura Ministries’ Toronto conference on Islam. The key note speakers were Thabiti Anyabwile, James White and Michael Haykin. While all of the talks were great, Dr. Haykin’s stood out. He offered an historical survey of the rise and conquest of Islam concluding with an early Christian response to this religion from the writings of John of Damascus.”
“Popes Testify that Catholicism and Islam Worship the Same God”
November 14, 2008
A post by ‘TurretinFan’ at the Alpha & Omega Ministries blog:
“Occasionally, I point out that one of the biggest reasons to reject the doctrines of Rome, is that Vatican II dogmatically taught that God and Allah are the same: that Muslims worship the one true God. As well, Vatican II teaches the Jews worship the one true God. This doctrine is false. Those who reject the Son of God reject God, and both religious Jews and Muslims do reject the Son of God. I get a variety of reactions from those who are part of the Roman church when I point this out … “
We remember Mansuur Mohammed, our brother in Christ
October 30, 2008
The Alpha & Omega Ministries blog shares a story from Compass Direct News about a Christian worker in Kenya who was killed by militant Muslims last month:
“Muslim extremists from the al Shabab group fighting the transitional government on Sept. 23 sliced the head off of Mansuur Mohammed, 25, a World Food Program (WFP) worker, before horrified onlookers of Manyafulka village, 10 kilometers (six miles) from Baidoa.”
[Let us pray for Mohammed's family and for other believers in Kenya -- and for the men who did this. Pray that God would have mercy on them and lead them to the truth (Matt. 5:44) - Admin]
BBC director general: Muslims to be treated with more sensitivity than Christians
October 18, 2008
The Telegraph story.
“Mark Thompson claimed that because Muslims are a religious minority in Britain and also often from ethnic minorities, their faith should be given different coverage to that of more established groups.”
Cranmer responds:
“But what irritates Cranmer perhaps the most in the debate over the BBC’s religious output is that he is forced to pay for it through the TV licence: he is obliged to watch his fellow Christians, the Holy Bible, the beloved Church, the holiness of God and the Lord Jesus being ridiculed, despised, trashed and spat upon, while Allah, Mohammed, Muslims and the Qur’an are treated ‘differently’.”
The Iranian church’s (atheist) advocate
October 14, 2008
Cranmer discusses the efforts of British Foreign Secretary David Miliband to bring civil liberties to Iran’s Christians:
“It is bizarre indeed when a devout atheist puts the professing Christians to shame in demanding freedom of religion.”
